At The Eye Centers, we’ve designed an in-person 12-week immersive training program to teach you the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience you need — with the goal of joining our team at the end of your training.

What you can expect in your 12 weeks of training:
Week 1: Introduction to Ophthalmology and Anatomy and Physiology of the Eye
Week 2: Diseases and Disorders of the Eye and Systemic Diseases and Ocular Manifestations
Week 3: Optics and Refractive States of the Eye and Principles and Problems of Contacts
Week 4: Pharmacology and Microorganisms and Infection Control
Week 5: Comprehensive Eye Exams and Tests and Procedures
Week 6: Ocular Motility and Principles and Techniques of Perimetry
Week 7: Review Week (weeks 1-6)
Week 8: Low Vision, Pediatrics, and Patients with Special Concerns
Week 9: Refractive Surgery and Minor Surgical Assisting
Week 10: Care of Ophthalmic Lenses and Instruments and Patient Screening and Emergencies
Week 11: General Medical Knowledge
Week 12: Final Review
What Happens After Week 12
- Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll transition to our team at The Eye Centers as an ophthalmic technician.
- You’ll continue to refine your skills in our clinical environment, working with patients, doctors and experienced staff.
- We’ll support your career growth — from technician to potential COA certification, and future advancement within our practice.
